I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the magic in everyday moments – those seemingly ordinary bits of life that we often rush past without a second thought. I used to be that way too, always looking ahead to the next big thing, always searching for the extraordinary. But then, life shifted for me in the most unexpected and beautiful way.
Becoming a wife and stepmom changed everything. Suddenly, my world became full of small moments that felt impossibly big – the way my husband looks at me across the dinner table, the sound of Kennie (my stepdaughters) laughter echoing through our home, the quiet peace of sitting together on the couch as we dive into creative endeavors or watch our favorite show. I began to realize that these little moments held a power and a beauty that was far greater than I ever could have imagined.
I started documenting these moments, not for anyone else, but for myself. I felt this soul connection with the people I loved, and I wanted to hold onto it, to remember it in all its raw and real form. Through this process, I began to see the soul connections in others, too. I found myself deeply moved by the way two people can share a glance that speaks a thousand words, or how a quiet smile can reveal an entire story. These moments, these little fragments of time, became my inspiration.
Photography has always been a way for me to communicate when words fall short. And now, more than ever, I find myself pulling my own feelings into my creativity, trying to accurately depict the emotions others are experiencing. It’s not about orchestrating the perfect pose or creating a picture-perfect scene. It’s about finding the extraordinary in the ordinary – the messy, beautiful, unscripted parts of life that make us who we are.
Each time I reach for my camera, I’m reminded of this truth: the most profound moments are often the ones we least expect. The ones that happen in between the big events – a stolen glance, a belly laugh, a tender touch. These moments, however fleeting, are the threads that weave together the story of our lives.
Ad so, I encourage you to slow down and look closer. To find the magic in your everyday moments. There is so much beauty in the ordinary, if we just take the time to see it. Let me help you find it- through my photography, and through your own heart.
With love and light,
Annie
